Healthy Dads, Healthy Kids
Empowering fathers to lead healthier lives – starting in the kitchen

Mission
Starting at the Table
DEC is launching a new initiative Healthy Dads, Healthy Kids to empower fathers to lead healthier lives for their children – starting in the kitchen. Through culturally relevant workshops and resources, we equip dads with tools to prepare nutritious meals, make smart grocery choices, and build stronger family bonds through food.
Why This Matters
Fathers as Food Role Models
Far too often, health education and family nutrition are seen as the mother’s domain. But fathers play a crucial role in shaping how children eat, cook, and relate to food. In communities impacted by economic hardship and systemic inequities, access to healthy, affordable meals is a challenge – and knowledge is power. DEC is here to shift the narrative and give fathers the knowledge, confidence, and leadership to become food role models for their families.
